Presentation of a new Transrectal Ultrasound Scanner
7th July 2018

The Urology Department at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford has been presentated with a state-of-the-art Transrectal Ultrasound Scanner, which was co-funded by UCARE.
This equipment is now at the forefront of techniques to acquire prostate biopsies of men suspected with having prostate cancer.
It improves detection accuracy as well as accurate staging and grading of lesions and potentially ruling out ‘insignificant’ prostate cancers and avoiding unnecessary biopsies.
I am grateful for the contributions, both financial and supporting. Particular thanks to the Trust Cancer Benefactors, the Churchill Hospital League of Friends, the Oxon Prostate Cancer Support Group and UCARE for their generous donations.
Gala Dinner Update
7th June 2018

The 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner and Auction was a wonderful evening with nearly 200 people helping us to celebrate in style.
As well as those attending the sold-out event, many more people bid in the online auction that was available for two weeks before. After the dinner the one and only Charlie Ross conducted the “live” auction, as only he can, resulting in the incredible total amount of money raised by the event of £140,000.
We are of course very grateful to everyone who joined us on the evening, and the people who donated over 40 fabulous auction prizes, with a particular mention to Jenny Saville, without whose generous donation of one of her iconic paintings this incredible amount would not have been possible.
The money raised on the evening will really help us to fund projects such as the Nilay Patel Fellowship, The Robotic Surgery Simulator, our Urological Community Awareness Team and future projects that are always available to view and support on our website.
